Fort Wayne Police Department
In addition to the many ways that police departments and fire departments work together across the country, the Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) and the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) have found new and innovate ways to collaborate. Establishing police outposts in our fire stations, sending our fire investigators through the FWPD training academy, being one of the first communities in the nation to jointly train on the Rescue Task Force concept, and having members from the FWFD serve on the Air Services Unit are just a few way this partnership has created efficient, professional and cost effective delivery of public safety services in Fort Wayne.
