The Police Department is currently authorized a staff of 88 officers and 35 professional full-time personnel and is responsible for protecting the City’s residents, property owners and businesses. The department fosters a problem-solving, community policing philosophy and works collaboratively with policymakers, the City Manager’s Office, and the community to address problems of crime and property damage.
Mission
The mission of the Richmond Police Department is to prevent crime and maintain order.
We work in partnership with our diverse commu-nity to help solve neighborhood problems, ad-dress root causes of crime and improve the quali-ty of life in Richmond.
